The accumulation of more than a thousand Man-Years of lubrication experience acquired by our company members working in Applied Tribophysics over more than 55 years since we started in 1951, today enable us to tackle and solve some of the most intractable and apparently insoluble lubrication problems encountered in the most sophisticated Defence equipment and Defence’s supporting contracting industries.
Through these years there have been hundreds of occasions in which Defence and Industry have sought our local regional assistance and supply, at short notice, for the manufacture of existing critical and specialised documented materials as well as new products to be generated and approved at short notice.
Commencing in 1960 with supply of mortar fuse assembly gel to the Victorian Maribyrnong munitions facility, our unmatched skills in coping with Lifetime contact lubrication between dissimilar materials, such as metals on rubbers and plastics at very low or very high temperatures - far outside the performance envelopes of normal lubricants - has characterised much of what we have achieved.
All TRANZ Performance lubricants are manufactured in our Sydney plant under the most rigorous Quality Assurance programs. Apart from relevant accelerated performance testing, our product development protocol requires a minimum 24 months Real-time testing before product acceptance into the sales range.
This information sheet summarizes the principal TRANZ brand products which are currently available against those presently listed in DEF (AUST) 206E and other sources, in the following categories shown below.
Defence Associated Lubricants & Functional Compounds, Numbering logic
The TRANZ nomenclature follows a product numbering logic based on the physical forms of the presented product, viz.:
- DA1 Prefixes - Oils, neat; plus oils incorporating dispersions of particulate actives
- DA2 Prefixes - Oils in solution with other oil-soluble liquid additives including solvents
- DA3 Prefixes - Emulsions, with oils and their solutions in the stable dispersed phase
- DA4 Prefixes - Greases, grease-like gels & structured oil compounds
- DA5 Prefixes - Miscellaneous inc. powder lubricants, aerosols, fluid blends etc
- DA6 Prefixes - Emulsifiable, dispersible oils & greases
NOTE: VISCOSITY CITATION
Following the directions in ISO nomenclature, from June 1st, 2000, all Field Performance viscosity references have been adjusted from primarily listing measurements in centistokes at standard temperatures, to the ISO citation of mm2s-1.
